Évènements Nordiques Gatineau Nordic Events to Host 2024 Nordiq Canada Ski Nationals

March 23, 2023

CANMORE, Alta.—Canada’s cross-country ski community will connect at Nakkertok Nordic Ski Centre in one year’s time for the 2024 Nordiq Canada Ski Nationals.

The governing body for cross-country skiing in Canada tapped Évènements Nordiques Gatineau Nordic Events (ENGNE), located near Canada’s Capital, to host the most prestigious event on the 2024 domestic race calendar.

“We are absolutely thrilled to have the opportunity to bring our ski community together with our passionate community in the Gatineau region – an area that has been instrumental to the growth of cross-country skiing in Canada while developing many of Canada’s best athletes – for the 96th edition of our biggest event in the country,” said Julie Beaulieu, Sport Development Director, Nordiq Canada.

“We know our partners at ENGNE are sure to create a memorable experience for athletes, coaches and fans alike at one of Canada’s most coveted cross-country ski venues for our National Championships.”

More than 700 senior, junior and Para-Nordic skiers will compete for national crowns in sprints, distance races and team sprints on the trails at the Nakkertok Nordic Ski Centre in Gatineau, Que.  ENGNE previously hosted the premier event on the domestic race calendar in 2019 and the Outaouais region, with the Gatineau Parc and the Nakkertok Nordic Ski Center, is a favorite ski destination and recognized as the Eastern epicenter for Canadian cross-country skiing.

“This is thanks to the strong cooperation between our public partners and the ENGNE club leaders who recognize our shared vision and expertise through the ENGNE structure.  We are confident we can continue to grow the profile of cross-country skiing not just in Canada’s Capital region but also nationally and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to again host Canada’s best in 2024” said John Halvorsen, President of ENGNE

The mission of ENGNE is to host, organize, and promote major events and competitions in the field of cross-country skiing aimed at offering an enriching experience for all participants and fans, promoting the practice of amateur and competitive sport and a healthy lifestyle, as well as broadening the reputation of Canada’s Capital Region as a sports and cultural destination of choice.
