Frozen Thunder Track Opens Oct. 19

October 17, 2019

Frozen Thunder marks its 10th anniversary when it opens October 19, 2019.

Developed to support the training of Canada’s high performance skiers, Frozen Thunder is now funded and sustained through a partnership between Nordiq Canada, Biathlon Canada, Biathlon Alberta, Alberta World Cup Society, Winsport, Foothills Nordic Ski Club, and Canmore Nordic Ski Club. It is supported by the Canmore Nordic Centre (CNC).

The Track is reserved everyday from 07:00 AM to 12:00 PM for use by the funding partners.
During this time, all Frozen Thunder users MUST wear the approved bib for that time period and have a Canmore Nordic Centre trail pass. If you do not have both of these items, you will be asked to leave the track.

Athletes and coaches who want to train during this time period can purchase a bib from the Nordiq Canada office Monday to Friday 08:30 – 4:30 PM (100, 1995 Olympic Way – at the Canmore Nordic Centre beside the Bill Warren Training Centre building). You will need to provide your CNC trail pass or proof of purchase to receive a bib.

  • $100 for unlimited access or a $30 daily rate.

Trail passes are purchased from the Canmore Nordic Centre guest services located in the day lodge every day from 09:00 – 5:00 PM.

  • $90 Frozen Thunder season pass or a $15 daily rate.

Frozen Thunder is available for public use from Noon until the Canmore Nordic Centre Provincial Park closes (11:00 PM).
Please respect the Frozen Thunder and CNC fee rules to ensure the sustainability of Frozen Thunder.
