Events and Officials Manager
Reporting Structure
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
Summary
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Events and Officials Manager is responsible for leading and managing the domestic events program and the official’s development pathway.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides input to the development of the strategic direction and annual plans to ensure sustainable domestic competition opportunities for development, high performance and recreational skiers
- Lead the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the Official’s Development pathway
- Facilitate communication, cooperation and coordination between the different event program levels (i.e., Nordiq Canada Nationals, Divisions, clubs, organizing committees, officials)
- Chair the Nordiq Canada Competition Appeals Commission
- Lead, oversee and execute all facets of the domestic events program (e.g., calendar, technical packages, hosting agreements, jury assignments), as well as the domestic FIS calendar.
- On-snow race director duties at select races
- Lead the design, implementation and monitoring of domestic wax protocols
- Contributes to creating, maintaining and implementing policies, rules and procedures including those related to homologation, sanctioning and licensing
- Implementing both the Canadian Competition Rules and International Competition Rules and Regulations
- Manages the official’s development pathway including, maintaining the officials database and officials’ development materials; manages all associated contracts
- Lead hosting and collaboration with local organizing committees for international competitions in Canada under Sport Canada’s ISSE program, including Para and Olympic stream World Cup competitions.
- Maintain a system of results reporting for national and international events held in Canada, which includes CPL and/or FIS points
- Help prepare and maintain project plans and budgets including monitoring and adjusting budgets as required
Requirements
- University degree in kinesiology, physical education, sport management or equivalent sport science
- Licensed as a FIS Cross-Country Technical Delegate (preferred)
- Nordiq Canada Level 3 Official (preferred)
- Superior communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to cross-country ski in both techniques
- Bilingualism strongly preferred

Working Conditions
This role will require the successful candidate to work evenings and weekends from time to time, travel extensively, lift items up to 30 lbs, and work outdoors during the winter months.
