Nordiq Canada Waiving All 2021-22 Athlete Competition Trip Fees
It is with great pleasure and excitement that Nordiq Canada announces today that it will waive athlete fees for all 2021-22 Competition trips (as published in the 2021-22 Competition Trip selection criteria and communicated to athletes prior to each trip), including all World Cups, World Junior and U23 Ski Championships, US SuperTour development trip, and the November Scandinavian tour.
This decision was made to increase much-needed athlete financial assistance to best support athletes’ quest for the podium and made possible by the generous donations of hundreds of donors throughout the year and other successful revenue generation initiatives.
While waiving all athlete competition trip fees is financially feasible for the 2021-22 season, Nordiq Canada’s financial capacity can vary from year to year as it does not have full control over all its sources of revenue, like sponsorships and non-recurrent government grants. While we cannot guarantee our capacity to continue to provide top quality HP and NST programs completely free of charge to participating athletes over the longer-term, Nordiq Canada nonetheless reaffirms its firm intention and strategic priority of augmenting its investment in National Team programming over time and keeping costs for the athletes at a level that will not compromise their pursuit of excellence.
As demonstrated by remarkable international performances from Canadian athletes throughout the season, we are proud of the work accomplished to get to this point and very optimistic for what lies ahead. We are very confident that, together, we can continue to build momentum! We are at the start of a new quad, filled with promise and led by a powerful contingent of veterans and NextGen athletes in the Paralympic and Olympic streams and a passionate community. Nordiq Canada and its partners will strive to support athletes, coaches, technicians, officials, and volunteers at the level needed for everyone to reach their full potential.
Thank you for a memorable 2021-22 season and see you at the Canadian Ski Championships!
