What does the ban include?

- Cold-weather powder additives and hardeners containing fluoros are NOT permitted
- Fluorinated grip powders are NOT permitted
Exemptions from the ban
- FIS sanctioned competitions (Tier 1 – NorAm, FIS Regional Cup, Canada Cup and Canadian Ski Championships)
- All kick wax, specifically hard wax and klister

Strategic Plan to 2030: An Update
With you, Nordiq Canada has been working hard to grow our sport through improved high-level performance as well as grassroots participation. We followed a re-branding in 2019 with numerous engagement and research projects to better understand where we exist as an organization and sport. This effort set the stage for possibly the most important piece of our journey: a renewed strategic plan.
At the end of September, 20 representatives of staff, Board, athletes & alumni, coaches, Divisions & clubs, funding partners and others will take part in a strategic planning workshop. The workshop builds on the long-term goals set by the Board of Directors in consultation with the Athlete Advisory Group and Divisions. The strategic plan aims to provide a roadmap to help the national office deliver on its mandate, in partnership with clubs and Divisions.
A small Steering Committee that includes Board Chair Ted Kalil, Athlete Representative Scott Hill, and Division Representative Wannes Luppens, are working with CEO Stephane Barrette, staff and strategic facilitators to guide the process.
We are engaging in this process with several expectations and desires. These include:
- Building consensus around (or validating) our common core values, purpose and mandates: the vision
- Engaging the community in setting clear long-term goals for our sport and the country for the next 8 years that will be ambitious, yet achievable if we all work together with persistence and inspiration: the mission
- Coming to a consensus on our respective roles and responsibilities within our sport system: clarity
- Developing a strategy and plan to accomplish our mission: commitment and accountability
- Valuing everyone’s role and contribution to the execution of the plan: appreciation and recognition
Importantly, the Board and management want to underscore that we would have preferred to gather a larger group in Canmore; however, with COVID-19, logistics, and costs in mind, we’ve identified a cross-section of people that we expect will effectively represent everyone’s perspectives. We’re also investigating technological options to keep those unable to attend updated and engaged.
If you have thoughts or perspectives, you think would be valuable in our planning, discussions, and direction, please share them by emailing .
