Nordiq Canada Coaching Positions

Nordiq Canada is seeking two full-time National Ski Team coaches to help Canada reach World Championship and Olympic podiums:

  • National Team NextGen Coach
  • National Team World Cup Coach

Hot off a second WJRU23 medal in as many years and several career-best performances on the World Cup, and driven by a newly minted Gold Medal Profile, the future is bright.

If you are a seasoned coach with the following superpowers, we want to hear from you:

  • An ability to inspire and align many people to a common vision and plan through outstanding communication, leadership and change management skills
  • A humble passion for learning and to sharing knowledge with others
  • A desire to work in a pan-Canadian team environment that is integrated and seamless

The end-of-season Canada Points List will be published on April 16, 2021 and will include all FIS and domestic races since May 2019

Regarding the 2021-2022 season, racers who hold a 2021-2022 race license but who did not hold a 2020-2021 race license:

  • will not be seeded in Period 1; they will be seeded in Period 2 if they race in Period 1.
  • will not be used as reference skiers if they finish in the top 5 of early 2021-2022 races; they will be used as reference skiers when their 2021-2022 results start to be picked up by subsequent CPLs
  • will not be eligible for NST/PNST nominations or AAP selections that rely on 2020-2021 CPL rankings
  • may not be eligible for Divisional and regional selections (confirm with your Division).

2020-2021 race licenses will be for sale until June 1. 2021-2022 race licenses go on sale July 1, 2021. The next Points List will be generated in November 2021 and will continue to date back to May 2019. At this time and while the pandemic still carries many unknowns, we do not know how long we will continue to date lists back to May 2019.

Nordic Sports Respiratory Health Survey – participants needed

This study aims to understand the influence of cross country skiing and biathlon on respiratory health status, identify causes that lead to respiratory symptoms and determine what factors might influence respiratory status in Nordic sport.

Eligibility:
We are looking for cross country skiers (male or female) between 14 and 50 years of age. To be eligible, you must:

  • have been training for cross country skiing/and or biathlon regularly in the past few years

Study requirements:
If you choose to participate, you will be asked to:

  • Complete an on-line questionnaire about your cough, respiratory symptoms, background training history, allergy and how culture of your sport and environment influence thoughts about lung health.
  • This questionnaire will take approximately 30 minutes to complete.

For over 30 years these awards provide national recognition to Canada’s most impactful people in our cross-country ski community…  

Know someone who should be nominated?  The Nordiq Canada Awards Committee is calling for nominations! To date, 125 people, from every sector of the country, have been awarded one of these 3 awards: 

  • Firth Award presented to a woman who has made an outstanding contribution to cross-country skiing in Canada.
  • 2020 Recipients: Jo-Ann Wolach and Emily Nishikawa.
  • Dave Rees Award presented to a man or woman to recognize outstanding achievement and commitment in the national development of cross-country skiing.
  •  2020 Recipients: Norbert Meier 
  • Volunteer of the Year Award presented to a man or a woman to recognize significant achievement in the regional or national development of cross-country skiing.
  • 2020 Recipients: Richard Turgeon and Lorenzo Caterini. 

Nominations are due May 7.  Awards will be presented at this year’s AGM June 18/19.
