2020 World Junior/U23 Championship Team Selection Process Synopsis

TEAM UPDATE

Hannah Mehain, U23 Women’s alternate, will replace Zoe Pekos due to injury.
The following athletes were selected to the World Junior/U23 Championship team based on the criteria outlined in the Nordiq Canada Competition Trip Selection Criteria 2019-20.

WORLD JUNIOR TEAM

  • Remi Drolet qualified on criteria 5.4.a first (1) place JR male in the mass start skate.
  • Tom Stephen qualified on criteria 5.4.a second (2) place JR male in the mass start skate race.
  • Xavier McKeever qualified on criteria 5.4.b second (2) place JR male final result in the sprint skate race.
  • Olivier Léveillé qualified on criteria 5.4.c second (2) place JR male in the distance classic race.
  • Michael Murdoch qualified on criteria 5.4.a fourth (4) place JR male in the mass start skate race.
  • Elizabeth Elliot qualified on criteria 5.4.a first (1) place JR female in the mass start skate race.
  • Molly Miller qualified on criteria 5.4.c first (1) place JR female in the distance classic race.
  • Jasmine Drolet qualified on criteria 5.4.a second (2) place JR female in the mass start skate race.
  • Benita Peiffer qualified on criteria 5.4.b second (2) place JR female final result in the sprint skate race.
  • Liliane Gagnon qualified on criteria 5.4.a third (3) place JR female in the mass start skate race.
  • ALTERNATES: Beth Granstrom, Joe Davies

WORLD U23 TEAM

  • Sam Hendry qualified on criteria 5.4.a first (1) place U23 male in the mass start skate race.
  • Graham Ritchie qualified on criteria 5.4.b first (1) place U23 male final result in the sprint skate race.
  • Antoine Cyr qualified on criteria 5.4.c first (1) place U23 male in the distance classic race.
  • Philipe Boucher qualified on criteria 5.4.a second (2) place U23 male in the mass start skate race
  • Pierre Grall-Johnson selected on recommendation and consultation with High Performance Manager, NST coach and the Selection Committee.
  • Laura Leclair qualified on criteria 5.4.a first (1) place U23 female in the mass start skate race.
  • Annika Richardson qualified on criteria 5.4.c first (1) place U23 female in the distance classic race.
  • Laurence Dumais qualified on criteria 5.4.c second (2) place U23 female in the distance classic race.
  • Zoe Pekos qualified on criteria 5.4.a third (3) place U23 female in the mass start skate race.
  • ALTERNATES: Gareth Williams, Hannah Mehain
