Apply Now! National Winter Sports Development Association – AltaGas Club Support Program

The NWSDA was established through the foresight and donation of the Disbrow family. This generous support of the NWSDA is aimed at assisting coaches, athletes and competitive racing programs in Canada with a long-term goal focus of boosting and sustaining Canada’s performance level and ranking at the international level.

Note that due to the unfortunate impact of the current COVID-19 pandemic, the NWSDA has to reduce its contribution for 2020-21 by 66% vs 2019-20. Fortunately, this drop in NWSDA funding will be partially compensated by AltaGas club funding destined for similar purposes so that the total funds available for this program in 2020-21 will “only” be 35% lower than in 2019-20.

One of the priorities of support of the NWSDA and AltaGas is to enhance athletic opportunities that our currently available to developing cross-country skiers in Canada. NWSDA and AltaGas have made a commitment to supporting selective developing athletes who have demonstrated potential to achieve international excellence in cross-country skiing and have a clear financial need for support to reach that level of performance.

Another important priority of the NWSDA and AltaGas is assisting cross-country ski clubs with proven ability to develop competitive skiers and coaches based on long-term development planning.
