Background

National Ski Team Background:
Anne-Marie has been on the Junior National Team since the spring of 2019. During the past year, she has had the chance to work on her technique on the treadmill and has made a lot of progress! She has learned to be aware of her limits, and that rest is just as important as training!

Anne-Marie has benefited from working with super motivated coaches and athletes from across Canada. She has also had the opportunity to participate in a world training camp in Norway, where she learned a lot from other athletes, both athletically and culturally!

Introduction to Cross-Country Skiing:
As a child, Anne-Marie took downhill ski lessons on Saturdays, and Jackrabbit cross-country ski lessons on Sunday. One thing that stands out in her mind are the fits her sisters and Anne-Marie used to have because they didn’t want to go to lessons. After a couple of times though things changed. She realized that she really enjoyed going fast on skinny skis. So, she waited patiently until she was eight years old to be eligible for the Club Nordique Mont-Sainte-Anne, where, true to her habits, her goal was to win zone 1. As she got older, her goals changed a bit. Today, Anne-Marie’s goal is definitely to be able to develop 100% to her abilities. She is optimistic and curious to see where this goal will lead her in the future.

Personal:
In order to maintain balance, Anne-Marie needs to see her friends and loosen up a little bit, while maintaining her athlete lifestyle. She loves that things aren’t always serious. She is currently studying in social sciences at Cégep Limoilou and enjoys working with others. She will certainly require social interaction in her future job! Anne-Marie loves to cook and would like to own a restaurant one day! At the moment, she works in a café-bakery and really enjoys it! To change things up from skiing, she does other outdoor sports such as rock climbing, mountain biking, track and field and others. Anne-Marie competed in track and field during her high school years. The 800 metre was her specialty. These activities allow her to add a little bit of personality to my training plans.
